The main mission of FICHET is to enhance Taiwan higher education international competitiveness, to leverage Taiwan’s advantages in academia and research, and to innovate in transnational and transdisciplinary cooperation in education.

Established in 1989, EAIE is Europe’s largest annual international education event, bringing together more than 6,000 higher education professionals from more than 90 countries in Europe, the United States, Asia and Africa to share experiences, discuss key educational issues, and promote transnational inter-school cooperation. The Taiwan delegation was led by the Deputy Minister of Education Dr. Mon-Chi Lio, and 53 faculty and staff from 23 universities. They aimed to promote the higher education in Taiwan, and to explore a wide range of international collaboration opportunities.

At the conference, Taiwan Pavilion raised awareness about higher education opportunities in Taiwan, and to further promote the brand "Study in Taiwan". Through booths and meetings, Taiwanese representatives disseminated information on their high-quality higher education and the advantageous academic and research fields to their counterparts in various countries. FICHET highlighted Taiwan's significant resources for higher education.  These resources, combined with Taiwan’s high-quality cultural soft power, forward-looking international strategy, and friendly and free humanistic environment, have been successfully promoted at annual education conferences in the America, Europe and the Asia Pacific region. Global trends towards learning Chinese as a foreign language dovetail closely with FICHET’s ongoing strategy to stimulate Taiwan's higher education capabilities to the world and to deepen cooperation with global academic partners.
