Part I
One day in 1997, the high school teacher announced to the class about the Joint College Entrance Examination in Taiwan, and Kun-Yu Luo believed that this was the day when he was connected to National Changhua University of Education (NCUE). He and his brother were raised by his mother alone in a poor family. He recalled that during his high school years, he had received a lot of support from many public service organizations, so that he made a wish that he would become a person who helps people one day, and that influenced his decision to choose a college.

He remembered the day when the teacher was handing out the brochures about the universities in Taiwan, and he saw that one of NCUE’s departments was the Department of Guidance and Counseling; he couldn't help but cry out in his heart: “Isn't this the one that can make me become a helper?” Then he wrote down the University and the Department on the application form. When Lo's mother told him that he had received a letter from Taiwan, he opened it and saw the acceptance letter from NCUE. Both of them were in tears of joy. He arrived at the NCUE campus a month before the semester began to give himself more time to enjoy the atmosphere of the university. The quiet campus and the beautiful Baisha Lake deeply impressed Lo Kuan U, and that was his very first day at NCUE.

Part II
During his years in college, Lo Kuan U was active in the school clubs. He was the President of the Baisha Soccer Club and was also a key member of the school's soccer team. He had represented the school to participate in the "University Football Association", and the team leader at that time was Professor Cheng-Hsiung Chen and the coach was Mr. Yung-Hsing Yen. Lo also won many awards in the inter-departmental soccer tournament organized by the school, and he was awarded the "Sports Merit Award" at the year of graduation.

Lo Kuan U has been involved in helping establish other clubs at school, including the Taekwondo Club and the Roller Blades Club. He has also worked in the library and the gym as a work-study student. Due to his interest and enthusiasm in the club activities, he has organized his own movie sharing sessions, "Yuya Film Screening and Discussion", on campus without any financial support, where teachers and students can share their experiences and feelings about movies at the Student Activity Center.

Part III
After graduating from NCUE in July 2001, Lo Kuan U returned to Macau and enrolled in a Master's program in Educational Psychology in the School of Education at the University of Macau. After receiving his Master’s degree, he worked in the community for nearly 20 years. After graduating from NCUE, he keeps in touch with his NCUE teachers and pays visits to them every summer and winter vacation. When the NCUE Alumni Association in Macau was established, the bond between Lo and his alma mater became even stronger. He remembers that one year NCUE participated in the Education Fair in Macau, and he, as an alumnus, was there to help with new student recruitment.

In 2017, he established the Society of Social and Behavioral Sciences Research of Macau, serving as its first Chairman and current President. He also invited Prof. Chi-Hong Wang from the NCUE Department of Guidance and Counseling to be the Honorary President of the Society. In addition, he has participated as a guest speaker and host in the "International Indigenous Social Science Conference and International Indigenous Counseling Psychology Conference" organized by NCUE in the past few years.

Always Together
Lo Kuan U said, "I am very grateful for the support and opportunities given by NCUE. As time goes by, many memories are etched in my heart, and I wish to move forward together with my alma mater. As NCUE celebrates its 50th anniversary, I wish that she continues rising to the greatest heights of success on the basis of her profound history."
