The 4th NUS-CMU Joint Symposium took place on February 24th and 25th, 2022. This year, the symposium was held online, with over 200 teachers, researchers, and students from both universities that participated. During the symposium, 22 top scholars shared their latest cutting-edge research in fields including cancer, Chinese medicine, aging, neuroscience, and stem cells.
President Mien-Chie Hung, China Medical University and Dean Yap Seng Chong, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, both gave the opening speech and welcomed the participants. In addition, President Mien-Chie Hung gave the keynote speech on the topic “Marker-guided effective therapy” that shared the latest development of cancer drugs developed from targeted therapy. Although the scholars from the two universities could not meet in person due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there were still very lively discussions online.
The international cooperation between China Medical University and National University of Singapore started from 2016, when the two universities signed a Memorandum of Understanding under the arrangement of Dean Liang-Yo Yang, Office of Global Affairs, China Medical University. Since then, CMU and NUS had already held four joint symposia, co-fund a number of bilateral research programs, and co-published many research papers.
It is expected that the 5th CMU-NUS Joint Symposium will be held by China Medical University in Taichung next year to continue to strengthen the academic research cooperation between the two universities.
Dean Yap Seng Chong, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, gave the opening speech and welcomed the participants.
Scholars from the two universities had lively discussions online.
