The University has fostered the enrichment and fulfillment of the whole person through erudition education and is a teaching-oriented university major in nurturing brilliant students. Its guiding principles have been “refinement, creativity, and new vision.” It emphasizes student-centered teaching, stresses both scientific and humanistic education, and advocates professionalism with critical thinking. Pursuing the goal as the regional, national, and global famous university, NTCU expects to be excellent because of students, and expects its students to be excellent because of NTCU.
National Taichung University (NTCU) has encouraged its faculty and students to proceed academic cooperation and has established a number of partner schools in Asia, United States of America, Europe and so forth in order to broaden worldwide perspective. For the faculty, encouraging faculty to pursue further education, engaging in international academic cooperation, participate in international seminars, and publish articles in international-known periodicals; for students, every year NTCU help students financially to participate in foreign activities such as exchange students, summer study abroad, international voluntary, international competition, and study abroad.
In order to encourage more faculty and students to step out for learning different languages, experiencing various cultures and expending international views, NTCU aggressively provides with budgets, including subsidies and scholarship application, reciprocity with sister universities.
In 2019, we did Erasmus programs on exchange students and faculty with University of Valladolid and University College of Teacher Education Vorarlberg. Our faculty and students are interested in Erasmus programs and apply for budgets. In August of 2019, Dr. Fan, teacher of the English Department, went to University of Valladolid in Spain as an exchange faculty for one week. Ms. Chen who was a student of the English Department and Ms. Lao who was a student of the International Business Department separately went to University of Valladolid in Spain as exchange students for five months. In January of 2020, Dr. Hung, chairwoman of the English Department, and Dr. Lee, assistant professor of the Educational Department, went to University College of Teacher Education Vorarlberg in Austria as exchange teachers for one week. Mr. Hsu was a student of the Department of Regional and Social Development and went to University College of Teacher Education Vorarlberg in Austria as an exchange student for 2 months.
Through exchange programs, faculty can learning the differences in teachers training, courses design, strategies arrangement among in Austria, Spain and Taiwan. For our students, they can expend broad views, learn independence, experience mutual interaction with foreign students, broaden their knowledge and receive different perspectives. In the future, NTCU continues to exchange programs with overseas universities and invite excellent faculty and students to NTCU for visit. NTCU will increase budgets and pick up more faculty and students to go overseas.
