（Foundation for International Cooperation in Higher Education of Taiwan, FICHET）將於9月15日至18日與國內19所公私立大專院校聯合參加於英國蘇格蘭會展中心(The Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre）舉辦之第27屆歐洲教育者年會（EAIE: European Association for International Education）。
The Foundation for International Cooperation in Higher Education of Taiwan (FICHET) and 19 higher education institutions will participate in the 27th European Association for International Education (EAIE) at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre, Glasgow, UK from September 15th to 18th. The theme for this year’s conference is “A Wealth of Nations”. By drawing together different cultures, nationalities, and professions within higher education, EAIE has developed a platform for creating dynamic partnerships within higher education. We believe that the “Study in Taiwan” pavilion will increase the international visibility of Taiwan’s higher education and the opportunities for international cooperation.
In the past years, FICHET has been leading Taiwan’s higher education institutions to participate in the EAIE conference. This year, under the coordination of FICHET, there are around 40 representatives from Taiwan attending the conference, and most of the representatives are the deans and directors of international affairs offices in universities. In addition to the “Study in Taiwan” pavilion, Taiwan has 3 sessions. The topics of Taiwan’s sessions this year include “The rise of double-degree programs: models, practices and lessons learned”, “Preparing students for successful study abroad experiences”, and “English instruction in Asia: an angel at our side or albatross around our necks?” In addition, Taiwan booth will hold the “Happy Hour” activity during the conference, interacting with friends and colleagues from around the world while tasting traditional Taiwanese snacks.
After promoting “Study in Taiwan” in EAIE for several years, “Study in Taiwan” are gradually known to many higher education institutions in Europe. The collaboration and interactions have been increasingly active. The student number in 2014 from Europe is 5,645 and the major subject fields for degree students are Business and Management, Social Science and Engineering. In this year’s EAIE, Taiwan’s higher education institutions offer joint/dual degree courses, high-level partnership establishment opportunities, exchange programs in teaching/research staffs and students, Mandarin Chinese programs and short-term programs with the advantage of “affordable scholarship, quality education, culture diversity and friendly environment” to attract more excellent international students to study in Taiwan and strengthen the cooperation with higher education institutions in Europe.
