Brief Introduction of the National Yang-Ming University, Taipei, Taiwan
National Yang-Ming University (NYMU) was founded in 1975 and located in Beitou area, Taipei. It is one of the top 11 universities in Taiwan. According to THE-QS World University Rankings of the Times Higher Education Supplement 2008, Yang-Ming University takes its place in the third position of Taiwan Universities and ranks 341 of the world Universities.
Current Total student number for academic year 2008 is 4,296 including 1,905 bachelor’s, 1,428 master and 963 Ph.D. students. NYMU has 6 schools of which 5 schools are related to medical and life sciences: School of Medicine, School of Nursing, School of Life Sciences, School of Dentistry, School of Biomedical Science& Engineering, School of Humanities & Social Science. The School of Humanity and Social Science is established in 2008.
Academic Highlight
NYMU has very good scientific research programs in genomic medicine, bioinformatics, neurology, biophotonic engineering, stem cell, microbiology and immunology. Currently it has 36 sister universities worldwide.
